  • Konnichiwa (こんにちは) Selamat siang
  • Konbanwa (こんばんは) Selamat sore / malam
  • Oyasuminasai (おやすみなさい) Selamat beristirahat / tidur
  • Sayounara (さようなら) Selamat tinggal
  • Dewa mata (ではまた) Sampai jumpa lagi
  • Mata ashita (またあした) Sampai jumpa besok
  • Mata raishuu (またらいしゅう) Sampai jumpa minggu depan
  • Ja mata (じゃまた) Sampai jumpa ya
  • Arigatou (ありがとう) Terimakasih
  • Arigatou gozaimasu (ありがとうございます) Terimakasih banyak
  • Dou itashimashite (どういたしまして) Sama-sama
  • Ogenki desu ka (おげんきですか) Apa kabar?
  • Genki desu (げんきです) Sehat / baik
  • Gomennasai (ごめんなさい) Maaf
  • Sumimasen (すみません) Maaf
  • Ojamashimasu (おじゃまします) Permisi, maaf mengganggu
  • Daijoubu (だいじょうぶ) Tak apa-apa

***Catatan :
"Ohayou gozaimasu","konnichiwa",dan "konbanwa" adalah salam yang hanya di ucapkan saat bertemu dengan seseorang. Oleh karena itu salam tersebut tidak dipakai saat berpisah dengan seseorang.
